Kicking Off the Christmas Season with Christmas in July: American Christmas Tree Association Encourages Consumers to Start Christmas Planning in July to Prepare for the Holiday Season

Consumers should use the Christmas in July holiday to take stock of their holiday décor and celebrating needs, get a head start on Christmas necessities, and get into the holiday spirit early this year.

Sacramento, CA – July 24, 2023 – This year, the American Christmas Tree Association (ACTA) is encouraging consumers to kick off their Christmas planning on Christmas in July, a holiday celebrated by consumers on July 25. While some use the holiday to enjoy Christmas movies or create Christmas-themed summer events, Christmas in July is a day for consumers to take stock of their Christmas décor and identify potential needs for the 2023 Christmas season.

“The challenge with Christmas decorating, especially in years with limited supply and high prices, is that consumers often don’t know what décor items they’re missing until they go to set up their lights, Christmas tree, or other Christmas decorations,” said Jami Warner, ACTA Executive Director. “This means that consumers are rushing to the store at the last moment and may struggle to find what they need – especially when faced with potential supply chain issues and increased costs. Using the Christmas in July holiday as an opportunity to check on Christmas décor and begin planning for Christmas needs is a great way for consumers to beat the holiday rush and find exactly what they want to make their Christmas celebrations special.”

In celebration of Christmas in July, ACTA has released its first-ever #HowToHoliday Christmas in July Guide, a resource for consumers looking to take stock of their Christmas décor this summer. The #HowToHoliday Guide includes a printable décor checklist, tips and facts on Christmas tree storage, cleaning, and care, and details on 2023 Christmas décor trends.

“We want every consumer to feel prepared for this Christmas,” said Warner. “We encourage consumers to take a moment to check on their Christmas décor, make sure they have what they need for the season, and create a plan to find their perfect Christmas décor items well in advance of the holiday season.”
